- Receiving Chocolate From Home
"...That loud yell meant that I'd received
the package (chocolates requested in December 1943).
I could hardly wait to dig into the chocolates. Say what you will
but that was a blessing heaven sent. Really believe now that its the
small things back there that make America what it is. Never knew that
I could take to candy and a few other things as I have now...I've
been rather busy for a few days but still drop a line each chance
I get...I take it Jr. won't be long in coming (Mae was
expecting her second child soon and Dad as usual was hoping for it
to be a boy.) Seems that the last time I was
home (End of January 1943) it was
just in time for the first Jr. to be born. (His brother
Frank's son)...These days are adding up and
pretty soon my eighteen months overseas will be over..."
